Praise the process rather than the result. A child who is appreciated for persistence learns resilience; a child praised only for marks learns to fear difficulty. Encourage interests even when they lie outside academics, because confidence built in one area transfers to others.

Learn Through Everyday Life

Cooking teaches measurement, shopping teaches budgeting, gardening teaches biology and patience. Practical experiences anchor abstract classroom concepts in the real world and make learning feel useful.

Be a Partner With the School

Attend meetings, share observations and stay in touch with teachers. When parents and educators exchange notes, children receive one consistent message rather than two competing ones.

Be Their Biggest Supporter

Above all, be their cheerleader. Your belief in them, expressed steadily and without conditions, is the single strongest predictor of how far they will be willing to go.
